Tracce di storyboarding: La sfida di Francesco Rosi

Traces of storyboarding. Francesco Rosi's La sfida. The essay considers the relationship between the genesis of the film La sfida (F, Rosi, 1958) and the role of storyboarding in the production process. The consultation of archival material in Turin, in the Archivio Rosi of the National Museum of Cinema, has made it possible to reconstruct the pre-visualization of a film-sequence. The article adopts a cultural approach to the interpretation of the images, with the methodological help of visual culture and the analysis of the gangsterfilm structure, thus revealing the technological knowledge that activated by the filmic text.
