This article describes the birth and life of the first movable-type printed book published by Michele da Durazzini, born in Empoli and often confused with two namesakes. Such incunabulum is evidence of the author’s readings and the liveliness of a centre such as Empoli must have been in the second half of the xv century. Printed in 1490 by Francesco Bonaccorsi (who also published the first printed specimen of Dante’s Convivio), the book was very popular, and the edition and text, to which Durazzini added specific references to his region and news reports that historical research has so far overlooked, were extremely important for the time.

Abstract
This article describes the birth and life of the first movable-type printed book published by Michele da Durazzini, born in Empoli and often confused with two namesakes. Such incunabulum is evidence of the author’s readings and the liveliness of a centre such as Empoli must have been in the second half of the xv century. Printed in 1490 by Francesco Bonaccorsi (who also published the first printed specimen of Dante’s Convivio), the book was very popular, and the edition and text, to which Durazzini added specific references to his region and news reports that historical research has so far overlooked, were extremely important for the time.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
