A hundred years after 1917, the article aims to understand how the October revolution was celebrated in Russia. The article analyses Vladimir Putin’s public speeches and the initiatives sponsored or organized by the Russian government. The article also focuses on the initiatives organized by the main Russian museums, the universities and the media (television and newspaper). The study shows the lack of a single, shared interpretation of 1917, and the impossibility for the Russian government to establish such an overarching vision.
