The archival documents make it possible to reconstruct the Florentine context in which Dante lived: a context that is not only literary (for the identification of the historic characters inspired the "Vita nuova" or the "Rime petrose"), not just cultural (in search of the authors that were read by him), but a context which, although literary and also cultural, is more properly social.
