Strutture della Villa romana di Giannutri (Isola del Giglio - GR): Lavori di restauro, valorizzazione e fruizione.

The complex of the Roman villa is part of the state heritage, in use to the MiBACT (from the Agenzia del Demanio on 22/12/2012), first through the Soprintendenza per i beni archeologici della Toscana (SBAT) today through the Soprintendenza archaeologia, belle arti e paesaggio per le province di Siena, Grosseto e Arezzo. The Decree establishing the Parco Nazionale dell’Arcipelago Toscano (PNAT) indicates in the island of Giannutri a zone of integral reserve (zone A) and an oriented zone of general reserve (zone B); in this zone is the archaeological area of the Roman villa. The constraint instruments provide territorial enhancement and redevelopment programs in compliance with the reciprocal competences of the various Administrations. The Roman Villa of Giannutri is attributable to the Trajanic-Hadrianic age (end I - first decades of the 2nd century AD); it constitutes one of the most representative complexes of the seaside villas of idleness built during the imperial age in the most suggestive coastal and insular sites of the Italian peninsula. The port area of Cala Maestra, on the south of the villa, is composed of ancient structures (cryptoportic with the adjacent insula, called 'Le Stanze') and of modern structures, a restaurant. The complex, for which in the past was request a building amnesty, was acquired by the State, together with the start-up of the restaurant. Today a mixed function has been proposed for this building: conference room, information and refreshment points.
