We developed a method to measure the angle-of-arrival of a wave after propagation through turbulence. The method is based on a Hartman test (mask with holes) and is here used to make measurements of laser radiation after propagation through turbulence produced by heaters in the laboratory. The two components in the horizontal and vertical planes are measured and the effect of the room turbulence in the absence of heaters is shown and removed. To our knowledge these are the first measurements of angle-of-arrival in the literature.

Abstract

We developed a method to measure the angle-of-arrival of a wave after propagation through turbulence. The method is based on a Hartman test (mask with holes) and is here used to make measurements of laser radiation after propagation through turbulence produced by heaters in the laboratory. The two components in the horizontal and vertical planes are measured and the effect of the room turbulence in the absence of heaters is shown and removed. To our knowledge these are the first measurements of angle-of-arrival in the literature.
