A Review of the book "A Philosophical Examination of Social Justice and Child Poverty" by Gottfried Schweiger and Gunter Graf (2015)

The book is firmly embedded in the capability approach and effectively combines it with empirical evidences as well as with recent contributions from the field of global justice and international political theory. By touching on different and controversial issues such as the definition of child poverty, the impact of deprivation on the present and future well-being of children, the identification of appropriate thresholds for measurement, and the issue of moral responsibility, the authors develop a normative theory that identifies the role different agents of justice (the family, the state, etc.) play in promoting the wellbeing of children.
