Abstract

The TOVIVA Project, based on the binomial "Interpretation/New Technologies", has the purpose of summarized in a series of objectives aimed at enhancing and promoting the enjoyment and interpretation of the watchtowers of the Valencian coastal defensive limit, during the 16th century and XVII. The project (Ref: HAR2013-41859-P), funded by the National Program for Fostering Excellence in Scientific and Technical Research, National Sub-Program for Knowledge Generation, Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (Government of Spain), has documented the existing remains of these constructions, carrying out a comprehensive investigation that produced a vast database of historical information, point cloud and 3d model. The paper shows the description of a workflow starting from the database that contains data of some coastal tower up to a digital dissemination tool. The aim is to make this database accessible remotely through "playable" modalities so as to make their visit possible and to make it more immediate and engaging. The interaction between the information contents and the visualization tools required a reflection on the quality of the graphic system and the virtual design. The tool designed, as well as representing an instrument for sharing Cultural Heritage, supports the conservation of artifacts, and at the same time it allows to know and protect the intangible assets that make up the identity of the places represented. Nowadays all these towers forms an important architectural heritage that has lost its main feature, the unit. They were built as part of a unique defense project, but now we find abandoned both physically and in terms of research effort for its value.
