The aim of this article is to present the first step of my research on Guo Liancheng 郭连成 and his voyage to Italy. Guo is the author of a travel diary entitled Xīyóu bǐlüè 西游笔略 -Brief Account on the Journey to the West- which has already been published three times, but that is still not well known among scholars and sinologists.
