activin A is a member of a family of dimeric proteins identified in reproductive and neuroreproductive tissues, where it acts as a growth factor regualting cell growth, differrentiation and remodelling. the aim of the present study was to investigate activin A levels in maternal serum and amniotic fluid of pregnancies affected by the fetal neural tube defects.
