The MS Paris, Bibliothèque nationale de France, Italien 591, the oldest witness of the vernacular translation of Ovid’s ‘Ars amandi’ (version B) and of its vernacular commentary, is written in “littera textualis” by six different scribes working simultaneously. The MS can now be dated post 1316-1330. particularly, the third scribe, who is also the corrector of the text, is identified with the florentine notary Andrea Lancia. This new attribution confirms that Lancia took an active part in the cultural “milieu” of the early-fourteenth-century florence; then, it allows to identify the handwriting of five other members of this group, working with Lancia; finally, it points out that the question about the authorship of the vernacular translation of Ovid’s text and its comment (previously attributed, respectively, to Andrea Lancia and giovanni Boccaccio) is still open
