Le riforme dell’hegelismo nella filosofia italiana: Spaventa, Croce, Gentile

The essay studies the Hegelianism reforms achieved in Italy by Bertrando Spaventa, Benedetto Croce and Giovanni Gentile. In the first part, it is exposed the “actualistic” course developed by Spaventa and Gentile in relation and response to the critique raised by Friedrich Trendelenburg in his Logische Untersuchungen against the Hegelian theory of the logical beginning. In the second part, it is outlined the dialectics reform carried out by Croce, which, unlike those of Spaventa and Gentile, involves the vertical and hierarchical structure of the Hegelian dialectics in order to underline and valorise the distinction and autonomy of the initial and intermediate grades of the dialectical movement. In its final part, the essay offers an assessment of the Hegelianism reforms in Italy by outlining the reasons both of the limits and the great value of these reforms. Eventually, the aim is pointing out the conditions of an immanent reform of the Hegelian dialectics.
