Documento Sud (six issues between 1959 and 1961), is one of the most important avant-garde Italian periodical of the late 50s, and it was promoted by ‘Gruppo 58’ in Naples. The magazine aims at opening the horizons of Italian Southern Culture to the European context, involving some international key-figures in the coeval art-historical scenario, such as Enrico Baj, Emilio Villa or Édouard Jaguer. This short essay provides a critical introduction to the magazine, identifying its guidelines and suggesting future studies and insights.
