In Sicily, despite the destruction and the transformations that have undergone many Muslim architectures are still a few structures, dating from the eleventh and twelfth centuries, which still bear witness to the legacy of Islam. In particular, the “Cube” reflect building traditions between the most disparate that are often manifested a artistic syncretism (koiné). Due to their unique shapes and vernacular solutions deserve to be cataloged and studied in greater depth and more importantly, put into relationship with their North African counterparts to better understand their spiritual motivations and functional at the basis of their construction.
