Use of different diffraction formulas in the kernel of the integral equation can give rise to different results, sometimes physically unacceptable. In the case of unstable optical resonators the so called parabolic approximation can allow analytical solution of the problem. By means of a numerical investigation, we show here that it can give rise to results different from those of three more accurate diffraction approximations.

Abstract
Use of different diffraction formulas in the kernel of the integral equation can give rise to different results, sometimes physically unacceptable. In the case of unstable optical resonators the so called parabolic approximation can allow analytical solution of the problem. By means of a numerical investigation, we show here that it can give rise to results different from those of three more accurate diffraction approximations.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
