Resection techniques (RT) may significantly impact on perioperative and functional outcomes after partial nephrectomy (PN) for localized renal masses. In 2014, we created the Surface-Intermediate-Base (SIB) Margin score International Consortium and designed a prospective multi-stage project (SIB project) following the Innovation-Assessment-Exploration-Assessment-Long term study (IDEAL) model. The aims of the study is to evaluate potential predictors of positive surgical margins (PSMs) in a cohort of patients treated with PN using the SIB score as standardized reporting system of RTs (IDEAL Phase 2b).
