Patients undergoing nephron sparing surgery (NSS) due to localized renal tumors are at risk of acute kidney injury (AKI), so identifying reiable biomarkers for AKI has become a research priority in Urology. Urine tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase 2 (TIMP-2) and insulin-like growth factor binding protein 7 (IGFBP7) are considered two new promising biomarkers, which appeared in several studies more sensitive than serum creatinine (sCr) to diagnose and describe AKI severity, but their role in patients undergoing NSS is unknown. The aim of the present study was to investigate the role of urinary [TIMP-2]*[IGFBP7], serum cystatin C (sCysC) and proteinuria in predicting early AKI development.

Abstract
The aim of the present study was to investigate the role of urinary [TIMP-2]*[IGFBP7], serum cystatin C (sCysC) and proteinuria in predicting early AKI development.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
