The paper discusses the results of a study aimed at understanding the structural behaviour of Desert Rose stone domes, used as roofs in several vernacular architectures in the Algerian region of Souf. The domes are built with very irregular blocks of Desert Rose stone and gypsum mortar. The shape of the domes are similar of the shape of the cloister domes, but they are built like revolution domes without scaffolding.
