A field experiment (September 2016 - July 2018) was carried out in Monteroni D’Arbia, Tuscany, Italy to compare three old genotypes (Andriolo, Sieve and Verna) of bread wheat to the modern cultivar Bologna. Sentinel-2A images were collected and analysed using QGIS program to calculate five vegetation indices (NDVI, NDRE, GNDVI, CCCI, SAVI). The results of the field campaign showed that the vegetation indices calculated from Sentinel-2A bands showed satisfactory correlations with respect to protein content and grain dry biomass. Sentinel-2A vegetation indices were shown to be suitable for supporting precision agriculture in old bread wheat varieties fields.
