The purpose of the present study was to examine how cheerfulness and seriousness may interact relating to resiliency and well-being. This topic was investigated in a sample of 646 college students and their family members who completed measures of cheerfulness, seriousness, resiliency, and subjective well-being (SWB). The indirect benefits of seriousness on well-being were examined through a moderated mediation model with seriousness as a moderator and resiliency as the mediator between cheerfulness and SWB. Seriousness moderated the association between cheerfulness and resiliency, which is associated with higher SWB. Individuals with high cheerfulness did not differ in resiliency at different levels of seriousness, but individuals with low cheerfulness reported greater resiliency at higher levels of seriousness. The present study contributes to a better understanding of the effects on resiliency in possessing a heerful disposition together with a serious frame of mind.

Abstract
The present study contributes to a better understanding of the effects on resiliency in possessing a heerful disposition together with a serious frame of mind.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
