This paper proposes a new methodology to identify a more accurate reliability measurement for satellite applications using commercial components. In particular, different configurations of a S-Band transponder are investigated, accurately determining their reliability, both contrived with space-grade and commercial components. Subsequently, to compensate for the inevitable lowering of the failure rate due to the introduction of commercial components, two different redundant configurations are proposed in order to obtain an acceptable reliability figure.

Abstract
This paper proposes a new methodology to identify a more accurate reliability measurement for satellite applications using commercial components. In particular, different configurations of a S-Band transponder are investigated, accurately determining their reliability, both contrived with space-grade and commercial components. Subsequently, to compensate for the inevitable lowering of the failure rate due to the introduction of commercial components, two different redundant configurations are proposed in order to obtain an acceptable reliability figure.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
