The aim of the paper is to show the development of spatial organization in a small town in the Apennine mountains of Tuscany from the 18th century to the present day, by means of analysis of historical cartography and new technologies. Spatial changes are analyzed in parallel with the social and economic dynamics that have determined them, with the aim of highlighting the phases of the modernization process and the interaction between man and the environment in the construction of the landscape.
