Un kyathos di bucchero da Poggio Pelliccia. La “Bottega vetuloniese” e il suo ruolo nella trasmissione della scrittura in Etruria

The re-examination of the finds from the tomb of Poggio Pelliccia (near Vetulonia) permits us to reconstruct a type Rasmussen 3 bucchero kyathos. The vase can be attributed to a ceramic workshop, operating in the second half of the seventh century BC in Northern Etruria. The kyathos is part of an increasingly numerous group of objects that allow us to define more precisely the ceramicist’s characteristics. Furthermore, some technical, stylistic and epigraphic considerations of these extraordinary objects of the Etruscan aristocracy lead to a reconsideration of the hypotheses concerning the origin and spread of writing in Northern Etruria.
