In this paper, I propose a fund for Italian young adults. In the first part, data on the unequal distribution of resources for different generations are illustrated, both in terms of wealth and of the labor market opportunities. Then, I briefly describe fiscal policies for the younger in force at present in Italy, and the reforms that are under debate. Finally, I present the theoretical basis of the fund, as well as similar measures in use in other countries, mainly Anglo-Saxon, and a very similar proposal presented in 2007.

Abstract

In this paper, I propose a fund for Italian young adults. In the first part, data on the unequal distribution of resources for different generations are illustrated, both in terms of wealth and of the labor market opportunities. Then, I briefly describe fiscal policies for the younger in force at present in Italy, and the reforms that are under debate. Finally, I present the theoretical basis of the fund, as well as similar measures in use in other countries, mainly Anglo-Saxon, and a very similar proposal presented in 2007.
