Nowadays the grid operators are interested to use high capacity energy storage system (ESS) efficiently. It means they have to consider both technical and economic factors in the grid connection of the utility-scale storages. Responding to the unforeseen loads by injecting the required energy, and absorbing the extra energy bought from the grid is the key challenge in the energy management of these storages. In this paper, a smart energy management system is proposed for the control of a ESS, with the aim to enable demand-side management in the power market environment. The conceptual framework is based on the techno-economical control algorithm that has been developed on the basis of OPF program. This algorithm handles the power, energy, and SOC of the storage as well as it takes into account the operation cost of the storage system. The algorithm models the performance of the storage and it proposes the smart command list for its operation. The simulation results confirm that the proposed method can efficiently control both power and energy exchanged by ESS through the grid connection, considering the competitive economic environment.

Abstract
The simulation results confirm that the proposed method can efficiently control both power and energy exchanged by ESS through the grid connection, considering the competitive economic environment.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
