Microbial biomass content and some physical and chemical parameters have been measured in surface and subsurface horizons of three forest soils located along a vegetative-altitudinal transect of the Tuscan Apennines. The results indicate that both the forest cover and the altitude affect the microbial biomass concentration. Biomass C is also regressed with bulk density, total N, organic C, and porosity; this regression is statistically significant. The biomass C is apparently untied to soil pH and ECEC.

Abstract
Microbial biomass content and some physical and chemical parameters have been measured in surface and subsurface horizons of three forest soils located along a vegetative-altitudinal transect of the Tuscan Apennines. The results indicate that both the forest cover and the altitude affect the microbial biomass concentration. Biomass C is also regressed with bulk density, total N, organic C, and porosity; this regression is statistically significant. The biomass C is apparently untied to soil pH and ECEC.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
