It is well known that the Italian territory is subjected to a high seismic risk. Since the 1980 earthquake in Irpinia, the importance of determining the seismic vulnerability of the Country, even at the urban scale, became evident. The seismic analysis of urban areas, such as neighborhoods or entire inhabited centers is usually performed by adopting simplified investigation methods. The recent earthquakes in L'Aquila (2009), in Emilia (2012) and in central Italy (August 2016 -January 2017), have caused both serious loss of life and considerable damage to constructions and cultural heritage, confirming again the need to adopt risk mitigation policies. Several experiences have been made in these years aimed at increasing the knowledge of the seismic vulnerability of entire towns. In Tuscany, advances studies have been developed on the cities of Florence and Arezzo. These surveys want to define damage scenarios, and to set tools to predict – and reduce - possible damages to urban centers.

Abstract
These surveys want to define damage scenarios, and to set tools to predict – and reduce - possible damages to urban centers.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
