A hybrid heuristic time dependent analytical solution of the radiative transfer equation for the slab geometry is derived. Comparisons with the results of Monte Carlo simulations have shown an excellent behavior of the model in describing photon migration at short distances and early times where the solution of the diffusion equation is subjected to strong approximations. © 2009 SPIE-OSA.

Abstract

A hybrid heuristic time dependent analytical solution of the radiative transfer equation for the slab geometry is derived. Comparisons with the results of Monte Carlo simulations have shown an excellent behavior of the model in describing photon migration at short distances and early times where the solution of the diffusion equation is subjected to strong approximations. © 2009 SPIE-OSA.
