The Treaty of Versailles with its 440 articles gave a strong impetus to International Law. At the same time it has sparked a debate, which, on the occasion of the centenary of the Treaty, demonstrated an inexhaustible liveliness. My contribution does not intend to scrutinize the text of the Treaty but rather to reflect on its meaning by adopting the tools of the Philosophy of International Law. In this perspective, it will be necessary to enhance the provisions relating to jurisdictional issues and to the requirements for admission to the League of Nations.

Abstract
The Treaty of Versailles with its 440 articles gave a strong impetus to International Law. At the same time it has sparked a debate, which, on the occasion of the centenary of the Treaty, demonstrated an inexhaustible liveliness. My contribution does not intend to scrutinize the text of the Treaty but rather to reflect on its meaning by adopting the tools of the Philosophy of International Law. In this perspective, it will be necessary to enhance the provisions relating to jurisdictional issues and to the requirements for admission to the League of Nations.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
