Previously unnoticed echoes of Bacchylides (18.1-11 M.) in the first elegy of Tibullus’ first book (1-4; 33-34) and in Lucian’s Podagra (39-41) are pointed out. Moreover, a ‘diagnostic’ conjecture on Bacch. 18.4 M. is suggested (instead of the transmitted ἀοιδάν read ἀϋτάν) and the meaning of the expression Martia… classica pulsa (Tib. 1.1.4) is discussed in detail.
