An innovative planar piezo-electric stage for vibration control of rotating machinery is proposed in this work. Innovative design methodologies are applied to a benchmark test case in order respect assigned design specifications. Aim of design procedure is the optimization of the equivalent impedance of the designed actuation system in order to approximate an ideal isotropic response. Optimization is performed also considering limitations of chosen piezoelectric actuation stages. Results of proposed optimization procedure applied to the chosen benchmark test case are shown in order to verify its feasibility.

Abstract

An innovative planar piezo-electric stage for vibration control of rotating machinery is proposed in this work. Innovative design methodologies are applied to a benchmark test case in order respect assigned design specifications. Aim of design procedure is the optimization of the equivalent impedance of the designed actuation system in order to approximate an ideal isotropic response. Optimization is performed also considering limitations of chosen piezoelectric actuation stages. Results of proposed optimization procedure applied to the chosen benchmark test case are shown in order to verify its feasibility.
