L'articolo serve da introduzione a una pubblicazione periodica di informazione sulle emergenze fitosanitarie in campo forestale rivolta al mondo degli operatori professionali del settore. L'obiettivo della pubblicazione è rendere più consapevoli delle emergenze fitosanitarie i proprietari, i tecnici e in genere gli operatori forestali, coinvolgerli nella sorveglianza attiva nel territorio ed incoraggiare una gestione responsabile e sostenibile, nella convinzione che per limitare i danni da parassiti alieni invasivi e opportunisti, è necessario predisporre un sistema efficace di allerta precoce, attuare rapidamente le misure di contenimento e adottare criteri selvicolturali che favoriscano sistemi forestali più resilienti. / The article summarizes for a non-specialist audience the knowledge of the factors that drive the emergence of tree diseases in forest ecosystems and urban forests. The article serves as an introduction to a periodical column of information on phytosanitary emergencies in the forest field addressed to the world of forestry professionals. The aim of the publication is to make forest owners, technicians and forest operators in general more aware of phytosanitary emergencies, to involve them in active surveillance of the territory and to encourage responsible and sustainable management, in the belief that in order to limit damage from invasive and opportunistic alien pests, it is necessary to set up an effective early warning system, to rapidly implement containment measures and to adopt silvicultural criteria that favour more resilient forest systems.
