The article provides a description of the consonant systems of the dialects spoken in Garfagnana and in the Apuane region (North-West Tuscany). Among other phenomena a crucial theme that is dealt with in the article is the nature (and possible origin) of the coronal retroflex, a typical realization of these dialects.
