BCL2 was methylated in 64% of bladder TCC patients, hTERT in 44% and DAPK in 25%, with an overall sensitivity included patients with potentially false positive results using other urinary markers. DNA methylation was correlated with tumor grade both as methylation degree and number of methylated genes. There was a patient age, while there was a weak correlation between methylation degree in urine sediment and freshly-processed tumor biopsies.

Abstract

BCL2 was methylated in 64% of bladder TCC patients, hTERT in 44% and DAPK in 25%, with an overall sensitivity included patients with potentially false positive results using other urinary markers. DNA methylation was correlated with tumor grade both as methylation degree and number of methylated genes. There was a patient age, while there was a weak correlation between methylation degree in urine sediment and freshly-processed tumor biopsies.
