The increasing interest for the UWB (Ultra Wide Band) technology is due to the unlicensed wide band, low power spectral density and robustness against multipath fading. Antenna array systems significantly enhance the overall system performance, in terms of capacity and spectrum efficiency achieving high data rate wireless services. The paper analyzes the use of the UWB technology combined with the antenna array system to estimate the DOA (direction of arrival) of the desired users' signals for Personal Location applications.

Abstract

The increasing interest for the UWB (Ultra Wide Band) technology is due to the unlicensed wide band, low power spectral density and robustness against multipath fading. Antenna array systems significantly enhance the overall system performance, in terms of capacity and spectrum efficiency achieving high data rate wireless services. The paper analyzes the use of the UWB technology combined with the antenna array system to estimate the DOA (direction of arrival) of the desired users' signals for Personal Location applications.
