The author discusses Roberto Salvini's little-known interest in the artistic expressions of his own day, which led him to defend the reinforced-concrete arch designed by Enrico Bianchini in 1932 to protect the cableway from the intersection with the Firenze-mare highway near Serravalle Pistoiese. The arch was eventually demolished to allow for the addition of lanes to the highway.
