This formalist analysis of Palombella rossa and Caro diario intends to propose a reassessment of Moretti’s cinema between the eighties and nineties. Rather than analyzing the two films not only in the light of postmodernity, the text tries to identify their values, inheritance and genealogy with the forms of neo-modernity. Finally, it shows how these films extend their influence on contemporary Italian cinema.
