Two distinct series of epigraphic forgeries, both stemming from archetypes belonging to the Porcari collection, have wound up through different paths in the Archaeological Civic Museum of Bologna. One can be traced back to Giovanni Giustino Ciampini (1633-1698), whose activity as a forger has been highlighted only recently. The other, composed of three inscriptions classified as genuine in CIL, VI 4403, 13654, 28970, has passed undetected so far; its production can be dated to the early XVII century.
