The paper reflects on changes and development of the trainer profession and on variability and multidimensionality of roles, tasks and contexts in which trainers work nowadays. A literature overview and interviews with key informants support the exploration of the profession’s trends over the last five years. In conclusion, professional development trajectories are identified alongside spaces and needs for in-depth analysis related to three emerging key dimensions: the movement from a teaching perspective to a learning perspective, the importance of methodological improvement and the need of adopting methods related to the non-formal sector and to innovation processes.
