Narrating the history of women's history

L'intervento riflette su sviluppi e trasformazioni della storia delle donne e di genere nel contesto europeo e americano, intrecciando le questioni di metodo poste da una serie di volumi pubblicati tra 2018 e 2020. Le domande riguardano sia lo stato dell'arte della storia delle donne e di genere in vari contesti nazionali, compreso quello italiano, sia le biografie di varie generazioni di storiche. Particolare attenzione viene data alle forme di scrittura della storia e ai percorsi attraverso i quali le donne hanno avuto accesso alla professione di storica nel corso del Novecento. The essay focuses on developments and transformations of women's and gender history in the European and American contexts, weaving together questions of method posed by a series of volumes published between 2018 and 2020. The questions concern both the state of the art of women's and gender history in various national contexts, including Italy, and the biographies of various generations of historians. Particular attention is given to the different forms of writing history and the paths through which women have become professional historians during the 20th century.
