Four catalase genes (Cat1, Cat2, Cat3 and Cat4) have been identified in P. deltoides; the genes contain seven introns in conserved position. The phylogenetic relationships were examined using data from four catalase genes and the intron position. Alignment of the amino acid sequences indicates a high degree of homology to other plant catalases. Interesting differences were found in the size and sequence of same introns within the four genes. The expression of catalase genes was determined in seeds, leaves and stems during vegetative growth. The results of the expression analysis suggest specific roles in the different tissues.

Abstract
Four catalase genes (Cat1, Cat2, Cat3 and Cat4) have been identified in P. deltoides; the genes contain seven introns in conserved position. The phylogenetic relationships were examined using data from four catalase genes and the intron position. Alignment of the amino acid sequences indicates a high degree of homology to other plant catalases. Interesting differences were found in the size and sequence of same introns within the four genes. The expression of catalase genes was determined in seeds, leaves and stems during vegetative growth. The results of the expression analysis suggest specific roles in the different tissues.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
