The investigation of large-scale surveying of physical and biological processes requires simple and fast methods. Lagrangian drifters are a common solution to achieve this goal. In natural rivers, they were already used to track the sediment movements and to study the water surface roughness. The Lagrangian drifters were already tested for the monitoring of the Large Wood (LW) movement behavior. We present a series of experiments designed to evaluate the applicability of drifters for the study of LW trajectories. The wooden dowels trajectories were estimated using both drifters and particle tracking velocity technique in order to compare the results and estimate the committed errors.

Abstract
The investigation of large-scale surveying of physical and biological processes requires simple and fast methods. Lagrangian drifters are a common solution to achieve this goal. In natural rivers, they were already used to track the sediment movements and to study the water surface roughness. The Lagrangian drifters were already tested for the monitoring of the Large Wood (LW) movement behavior. We present a series of experiments designed to evaluate the applicability of drifters for the study of LW trajectories. The wooden dowels trajectories were estimated using both drifters and particle tracking velocity technique in order to compare the results and estimate the committed errors.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
