The paper offers a collection of indigenous terms from different manuscript cultures that are more or less equivalent to the English word “library” and/or to a multitude of texts collected into one manuscript (Multiple-text Manuscript). The manuscript cultures represented in the paper are the following: Alevi, Chinese, Ethiopic, Greek and Byzantine, Japanese, Medieval Latin, Sanskrit, Swahili, Tai Lü, Tamil, Tibetan, and Vietnamese.
