In recent years, the research has focused a lot on the development of ‘smart textiles’ since these have an incredible versatility and the only limit of the applicability of these smart textiles is the imagination. The Knitronix company has patented a method of production of smart textiles and has produced an innovative textile temperature sensor that is categorized as RTD type, a type of device able to convert the temperature variation into a resistance variation. In this paper the main metrological characteristics of this new sensor will be analyzed and a short comparison with the best-selling temperature RTD type sensors: PT100 probes, will be proposed to demonstrate - that the textile is efficient from a technical point of view and is a competitive product respect to the PT100.

Abstract
In recent years, the research has focused a lot on the development of ‘smart textiles’ since these have an incredible versatility and the only limit of the applicability of these smart textiles is the imagination. The Knitronix company has patented a method of production of smart textiles and has produced an innovative textile temperature sensor that is categorized as RTD type, a type of device able to convert the temperature variation into a resistance variation. In this paper the main metrological characteristics of this new sensor will be analyzed and a short comparison with the best-selling temperature RTD type sensors: PT100 probes, will be proposed to demonstrate - that the textile is efficient from a technical point of view and is a competitive product respect to the PT100.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
