Danilo Zolo’s intellectual journey has been particularly rich and varied. His ability to dialogue with several scholars, sometimes very distant from each other – from Rosmini to Neurath, from Luhmann to Schmitt – is even surprising. Exploring this tortuous but intriguing path, it is necessary to stress the importance of his first encounter with the thought of Hedley Bull: The Anarchical Society, in fact, played a decisive role in the development of Zolo’s philosophy of international law. From this point of view, Zolo should be credited with being one of the very first in Italy to study Bull in depth, thus vastly promoting the reception of his work.
