The two Renaissance mathematicians Niccolò Tartaglia (1499-1557) and Francesco Maurolico (1494-1575) were both readers and editors of Euclid’s Elements. The thrust that pushed them to plan a new edition was their common dissatisfaction with the available printed editions of the Elements: nevertheless, their purposes and their approach to the text were completely different. My contribution is aimed to briefly describe their different approach to the restoration of Euclid's Elements and their achievements.

Abstract
The two Renaissance mathematicians Niccolò Tartaglia (1499-1557) and Francesco Maurolico (1494-1575) were both readers and editors of Euclid’s Elements. The thrust that pushed them to plan a new edition was their common dissatisfaction with the available printed editions of the Elements: nevertheless, their purposes and their approach to the text were completely different. My contribution is aimed to briefly describe their different approach to the restoration of Euclid's Elements and their achievements.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
