Microclimate knowledge inside historic buildings is a prerequisite for their preventive conservation and protection. In this research a methodological approach, based on the integration between experimental measurement and numerical simulation by means of CFD environmental control techniques, is provided. This method is aimed at identifying criticalities and risk conditions for the cultural heritage preventive conservation. The San Marco Museum in Florence is the case study. Results show that the proposed method can be a useful tool for guidelines for possible effective interventions, as well as basic rules of correct behaviour.
