The accurate characterization of the parasitic elements for inductors is very important in power applications where inductor currents exhibit large and rapid variations. For power converters, the characterization is usually proposed in terms of the measured real and imaginary part of the inductor impedance. For time-domain simulations it is necessary to fit the characterization data to a lumped circuit model. In this work, an effective way to identify a lumped parameters circuit model able to fit experimental data with a great degree of precision is proposed. Fitting is performed by means of a metaheuristic-based optimization algorithm, named CFSO.

Abstract

The accurate characterization of the parasitic elements for inductors is very important in power applications where inductor currents exhibit large and rapid variations. For power converters, the characterization is usually proposed in terms of the measured real and imaginary part of the inductor impedance. For time-domain simulations it is necessary to fit the characterization data to a lumped circuit model. In this work, an effective way to identify a lumped parameters circuit model able to fit experimental data with a great degree of precision is proposed. Fitting is performed by means of a metaheuristic-based optimization algorithm, named CFSO.
