Introduction: The healthcare workers involved with the diagnosis, treatment and care of COVID-19 patients, risk to develop severe psychological distress and other symptoms related to mental health. The main objective of this study is to reveal the influence exerted by COVID-19 pandemic emergency on the professionals' levels of anxiety, insomnia, and resilience. The secondary aims are to explore the differences of these variables among the demographic features of the participants. Instruments and methods: Explorative-descriptive study through survey design. Sample: all the healthcare workers operating on COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 settings in the national territory. The instrument is a multiple-choice questionnaire composed by two section. The first section is about demographical characteristics of the participants. The second section includes the Italian versions of three psychometric tools: Dispositional Resilience Scale, State-Trait Anxiety Inventory e Insomnia Severity Index. The survey will be performed on the Aniarti (Italian Association of Critical Care Nurses) web platform, through Survey- Monkey. The study period will take 3 months (from May to July 2020). A follow-up survey will be performed after 6 months from the end of the first period of study. All data will be collected according the ethical and national body of laws of privacy. Results: The results will be analyzed through statistical descriptive, explorative and inferential techniques. Discussions: The main potential limitations are the risk of low number of respondents to the questionnaire, and the consistent presence of recall bias. Conclusions: the results could be useful to design educational and psychological support interventions for the healthcare workers affected by high stress and anxiety levels conditions.
