After the Bourbon dynasty ascended the throne of Spain in the early 18th century, the kingdom attempted to forcibly industrialize Spain applying Colbert’s economic theories: several royal factories were founded. They worked in various production sectors and were spread all over the country; for territorial revitalization they were often located in economically weak areas. These factories’ destiny was closely linked to State investments thus they were gradually abandoned when funding ceased. After their disposal some royal factories were demolished, while the majority was converted to other uses.

They worked in various production sectors and were spread all over the country; for territorial revitalization they were often located in economically weak areas. These factories’ destiny was closely linked to State investments thus they were gradually abandoned when funding ceased. After their disposal some royal factories were demolished, while the majority was converted to other uses.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
